Vasco Alves Cordeiro was born on March 28th, 1973. He spent his childhood and teenage years in the borough of Covoada, municipality of Ponta Delgada, within a family of farmers and in a mainly rural area. After completing his elementary and secondary education in Covoada and in the city of Ponta Delgada, he left for the mainland, where he graduated in Law from the Faculty of the University of Coimbra in 1995. Carlos Manuel Martins do Vale César was born on October 30th, 1956, in Ponta Delgada, Azores, and completed his elementary and secondary education in his hometown.
